Flyer is, to put it simply, it a replica of her sire. Except she's not a chestnut. This filly's got some serious attitude, of the good kind. She loves to run and she loves to win even more. From her dam she inherited near perfect conformation. From her sire, intelligence and spirit. From both she inherited her burning passion and will to win. She's not highly affectionate - actually, she prefers horse company to human company - but she does share a special bond with her rider Marissa Star. Flyer has always had a quiet sort of fire about her. Like a flame before it turns into a blaze. She's got the spirit, that's for sure - and she shows it, on and off the track. But she doesn't misbehave like other racers. She hates to displease her rider; instead loving to please her and do her absolute best even for a simple pat on the neck and a few kind words. Most of all, she loves to race and win. During Flyer's two year old season, she was outshine by fellow two year old turfers Gorgeous George and Striking Motion, and was therefore overlooked. In the beginning of her three year old season, Flyer impressed us with a win in the Spring Cup. We started to then take a bit more interest and pay alot more attention to her. She was put on a new training regime, and then started to win like crazy. Throughout the year, she went from Grade Five to Grade One, and won some of the most prestigious turf races, including the Melbourne Cup. At the end of the year, she was awarded Filly Of The Year for her outstanding rise to the top. Now in her four year old season, Flyer still has alot to conquer.

By ex racehorse Merry Bay King who recieved Racehorse Of The Year Y3 and was inducted into the Hall Of Fame, and out of grade one mare Flying Loose, Flyer has simply outstanding bloodlines. Both her sire and dam have produced champions so far, and Flyer is half sibling to the likes of Impressario, a grade one Triple Crown Champion colt out of our own Bank On Silver.

Racing Style:

Simply A Flyer's racing style adapts automatically to the competition in the race, the distance of the race and the size of the field. If the competition is tough, she generally runs on the outside to keep clear of aggressive fights for position. If the competition is easy, she opts for the rail. For the longer races, Flyer sometimes adopts a closer position at the back of the back, or very close to the back. For short races, she tends to keep closer to the front, sometimes running as close as third place. In small fields, she usally takes third place automatically, whereas in the bigger fields, she willl stay in the middle of the pack, approximately 5th-8th place. Flyer usually begins her run at about two and a half furlongs. She is unaffected by weather conditions, and is often at an advantage in wet situations.
