A nervous whinny sounded from the green and gold GHS horse truck. All of the GHS staff gathered to see the newcomer, standing about five metres away to give the filly some space. Sarah unbolted the ramp and let it down gently, looking apprehensively into the float. A pretty dark bay filly stood within, looking back with wide eyes. James, who was already inside the float, was at the filly's head, talking to her and trying to calm her down a little. She didn't travel all too well.. Sarah informed the staff. Quite high strung. And she lives up to her name.. she's rude, too. She allowed a bright smile to spread across her face.
I'll say. James grunted from inside the float. He was backing the filly out slowly, or trying to. Rude Awakening shot backwards, dragging him with her. Sarah reached out by instinct to help him, grabbing the filly's halter as she bounced off the ramp. Roo froze. Her only movement was her heaving chest and her flaring nostrils. Otherwise, she stood as still as a block of ice.
After a few moments, Sarah clipped a second lead to the young, frightened horse and together, she and James walked forward a few steps with the filly, tensed and ready in case she decided to bolt. Okay. Sarah let out a relieved sigh, reaching slowly to pet the filly's silky brown neck. We'll give her the day to settle in, then we'll see what she can do tomorrow morning. With that, Sarah and James lead the filly to her new stall.
